Privacy Notice

Who we are

GIE Capital Ltd (trading as Build Broker) is the data controller for personal information collected through this website (www.buildbroker.co.uk) and the services we provide. We are registered in England and Wales.

Contact: info@buildbroker.co.uk

What we collect

We may collect the following personal information:

  • Name and contact details (email, phone number, company name)
  • Information you provide in enquiry forms or during conversations
  • Phone call recordings and call metadata (date, time, duration) when you call us or we call you
  • Company information obtained from public registers, including Companies House
  • Documents you provide to us in connection with a transaction
  • Technical data from your use of this website (see Cookies section below)

How we use it

We use personal information to:

  • Respond to enquiries and assess whether we can help
  • Manage transaction processes where we are engaged to act
  • Maintain records of conversations and calls for quality and accuracy
  • Verify company information using public registers such as Companies House
  • Communicate with you about relevant matters

We do not use your information for marketing. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own purposes.

Legal basis for processing

We process personal data on the basis of legitimate interest (managing enquiries and transactions efficiently and securely), contractual necessity (where we are engaged to provide services), and, where applicable, your consent.

Call recording

Calls to and from our business number may be recorded for quality, training, and record-keeping purposes. You will be informed at the start of a recorded call. Recordings are stored securely and retained only for as long as is reasonably necessary in connection with our business relationship. You may request deletion of a specific recording by contacting us.

Companies House and public register data

We use the Companies House API to verify company information provided to us. This includes company registration details, registered office address, officer information, SIC codes, and filing history. This data is obtained from public registers and is used solely to support our assessment of business opportunities.

Confidentiality

All information is handled on a strict need-to-know basis. We understand that the nature of our work - facilitating business sales - requires a high degree of discretion. Information is not shared publicly and is only accessible to those directly involved in assessing or managing your situation.

Data sharing

We may share limited personal data with:

  • Service providers who help us operate (email delivery, telephony, hosting) - under appropriate data processing agreements
  • Professional advisers (solicitors, accountants) where necessary in connection with a transaction - only with your knowledge
  • Potential buyers or sellers - only with your explicit consent and as part of a managed process

We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for marketing purposes.

Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. Enquiry data from individuals we do not engage with is typically deleted within 12 months. Transaction-related data may be retained for longer where there is a legal or contractual reason to do so.

Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Data is stored using encrypted, industry-standard cloud infrastructure.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to legal obligations)
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, email info@buildbroker.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days.

Complaints

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
